Meet Judy Barrette
Judy's Story
Personally, I totally love a great roadtrip chasing the light on landscapes and flowers or a cozy afternoon baking chocolate chip cookies or apple pie. My home is my sanctuary and fills me with peace and contentment. I prefer my chocolate to be semi-sweet and breakfast for supper. I never start my day without a Dunkin's medium black coupled with Spotify. Favorite group was, is, always will be CSN. Wizard of Oz is still the best movie ever made followed by the Polar Express. I'm a kid deep down for always. My children make my heart sing and photography leaves me deeply satisfi ed.
Professionally, I am a graduate of the prestigious Hallmark Institute of Photography in Turners Falls, MA class of 2011 with an award for Professional Portfolio of Excellence.
In September of 2012, I received a 3-year contract as an official Photographer for Worcester State University.
In September of 2011, I had the distinct nomination and opportunity to volunteer at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford, CT. Founded in 1988 by Paul Newman, The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp is a nonprofit, year-round center serving children and their families coping with cancer, sickle cell anemia, and other serious illnesses. Through summer sessions and family weekend programs at the Camp in Ashford, Connecticut, and year-round outreach to hospitals and clinics throughout the Northeast, the Camp will serve more than 20,000 children and family members in 2012. My time spent at the camp was filled with laughter, tears and the utmost admiration for the children and staff. I am forever grateful for this opportunity.
I am now a member of Inspiration Through Art (formerly The Littlest Heroes Project) and looking forward to this new endeavor in volunteer work.
I spent many years as a volunteer at the Greyhound Friends in Hopkinton, MA photographing incoming dogs to showcase their beauty and strength.
My objectives as a photographer are to tell stories through pictures, savoring each moment in order to make history. Recording first steps and smiles, new beginnings and commitments, at work or at play.... the look of joy, innocence and passion... finding the soul within us to tell stories for a lifetime.
I dedicate this site to my Dad.... for his never ending inspiration, admiration and support. He was truly my #1 fan and is with me in spirit each and every moment.
"Photography records the gamut of feelings written on the human face, the beauty of the earth and skies that man has inherited, and the wealth and confusion man has created. It is a major force in explaining man to man." ~Edward Steichen
